Today, I came across this quote from Michael Hyatt. It challenged me to think about what I really am afraid of. He said “Don’t fear failure. Fear being in the exact same place next year as you are today.” Wow! What a challenging thought. He’s not talking about living in the same town or working at the same job next year. He is talking about our personal and spiritual growth. We are called by God to grow. We should always seek to be learning, developing, and seeking to grow and develop the gifts and talents that God has given us. We should also be growing in our love, knowledge and obedience of Jesus. Growth never happens by accident. We don’t drift towards growth. We must intentionally take steps to grow.
What are you afraid of? (besides spiders!) What if you were afraid of not growing and you used that fear to lead you to take some steps towards growth? Here’s a couple of questions to think about:
- Are you currently doing anything intentionally to grow?
- What is one thing that you need start doing to grow?
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
