Proverbs 1:26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you, 27 when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.
I don’t want that to be a description of my life. I want my life’s journey to be be guided by the wisdom of God. Proverbs 1:7 tells us that wisdom begins by seeing God for who He is and developing a true reverence for Him. God’s wisdom is available to all of us, but only attained by those that reverence Him.
During the month of October I am reading through the book of Proverbs. Proverbs is a book of wisdom and in studying chapter one today, I was reminded of the need to keep learning. Proverbs 1:5 gives us insight about our need to contuse to learn: “Let the wise hear and increase in learning”. We never outgrow our need to learn. One of the key marks of a wise person is their desire to be a lifetime learner. In a situation I was dealing with today, I was reminded that one of the great dangers in life is when “we don’t know that we don’t know.” Think about that for a minute! When we “don’t know that we don’t know” we are a danger to ourselves and others. One of the ways that we can avoid this disastrous scenario is to keep learning, because one of the benefits to continual learning is we are reminded of how much we don’t know! Knowing that you don’t know it all - that’s wisdom!
My challenge to you today is to keep learning! Read, travel, think, have challenging conversations, and above all seek the wisdom of God by reverencing Him for who He is! Join me in a journey through Proverbs this month - just a chapter a day!
